The public hearing scheduled by the National Assembly’s National Defense Committee to discuss flight safety as it relates to the building of a new Lotte World building walked right off the agenda Monday, because former Air Force Chief of Staff Lee Han-ho, Air University President Choi Myeong-sang, and Air Defense Commander Kim Kyu suddenly decided they weren’t going to show up. These are Air Force generals who had opposed construction of the new Lotte World building. Their absence meant the hearing lost all balance between those in favor and those opposed to permitting construction.

군, 줏대 잃더니 국회까지 무시하나

제2 롯데월드의 비행안전 문제를 검토할 목적으로 그저께 열린 국회 국방위의 공청회가 파행으로 진행됐다. 애초 참석하기로 했던 이한호 전 공군참모총장과 최명상 전 공군대 총장, 김규 전 방공포 사령관이 갑자기 불참했기 때문이다. 이들은 제2 롯데월드 신축에 반대했던 장성들이다. 공청회는 이들의 불참으로 찬반 균형을 잃은 채 이뤄졌다.
