The economic regression is serious. The manufacturing industry that forms the basis of our economy has fallen into the worst of states while financial markets, once giving the appearance they were stabilizing, are falling again. According to the National Statistical Office, manufacturing industry production shrank 25.6 percent this past January, compared to January 2008, the single largest drop since they first started collecting statistics on that in 1970. The won is skyrocketing against the US dollar and looks like it is about to go over 1,600 won per U.S. dollar. The Kospi is looking like it is going to drop below 1,000.

고통분담 없이는 위기극복 어렵다

경기후퇴가 심각하다. 경제의 근간을 이루는 제조업 생산이 최악의 상태로 빠져들고, 한때 안정되는 듯했던 금융시장도 다시 추락하고 있다. 통계청 발표를 보면, 지난 1월 광공업 생산이 지난해 1월보다 무려 25.6%나 감소했다. 이는 1970년 통계 작성 이후 가장 큰 감소율이다. 원-달러 환율도 천정부지로 치솟아 1600원선을 넘어설 태세다. 종합주가지수도 1000선 붕괴를 눈앞에 두고 있다.
