Seoul High Court has found former Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee guilty of issuing Samsung SDS bonds with warrants (BW) at lower-than-market prices, but handed him a suspended sentence. Lee was formerly given a suspended sentence for tax evasion, and criticism is generating that the courts have again let Lee off with this retrial decision.

유죄라도 처벌은 않겠다는 삼성사건 판결

 법원이 삼성에스디에스(SDS) 신주인수권부사채 헐값 발행과 관련해 이건희 전 삼성그룹 회장 등의 배임죄를 인정하면서도 1심과 똑같이 집행유예를 선고했다. 이미 조세포탈 혐의로 집행유예를 선고받은 터에 이런 판결을 했으니 ‘봐주기’란 비판을 피하기 어렵다.
