Former President Kim Dae-jung has now been laid to rest for all eternity. Like rain and wind, like flowers and butterflies, he has returned to the place he came from. His march towards democracy, human rights, reconciliation and peace has come to an end, and so too has a turbulent life filled with hardship and glory, trials and satisfaction. The parade of condolences from all over the world and the sighs lamenting his eternal farewell are also scattering like the wind. The sun of our age has fallen beyond the mountain.

그대, 별과 달로 속히 돌아오소서

김대중 전 대통령은 영면에 들었다. 비와 바람 그리고 꽃과 나비가 그러하듯이 그가 떠나왔던 곳으로 돌아갔다. 민주주의와 인권, 화해와 평화를 향한 그의 행진도 멈췄고, 고난과 영광, 시련과 보람의 파란만장한 삶도 거기서 그쳤다. 세계 각국에서 이어지던 조문 행렬도, 그와의 영원한 이별을 서러워하는 탄식도 바람처럼 흩어진다. 우리 시대의 태양은 산 너머로 떨어졌다.
